This module, developed by Peter Watje, allows you to save a texture unwrapped from an object to a bitmap file (Fig. 21.7). This file can then be used as a template to create a texture in any bitmap editor. Spherical and cylindrical coordinates are most commonly used. After you install the module in 3ds max, you can access it in Utilities on the control panel by clicking the More button.

There is another module called Texporter, developed by Cuneyt Ozdas, that is similar but has somewhat broader capabilities. For example, it produces a colored map, where each color corresponds to the Material ID, etc. For more detailed information on this module and to download the latest version, visit Cuneyt's site at http://www.cuneytozdas.com.
