Exclusions

 < Day Day Up >

As explained above, this book skips items described in "3ds max 4: From Objects to Animation." When repetition was unavoidable, the material was presented in a more concise form with references to the previous book.

The main target of this material is to create reels to be demonstrated on the monitor. We don't dwell on animation intended for video, large images for printing trades, or modeling for games or the Internet. In each case, the requirements are different and can vary greatly, so it is impossible to take into account all peculiarities.

A description of the MAXScript language - an excellent tool for enhancing the features of 3ds max - is also omitted. We decided not to touch on this topic for two reasons. First, not being connoisseurs of MAXScript, we prefer to use the customized tools of the 3ds max package. Second, programming on MAXScript may well be the subject of a separate book.

Where possible, we tried to use the customized tools of 3ds max, so you will find descriptions only of the few plug-ins we used and those too good not to mention.

In addition, we only described features of 3ds max that are used in the lessons. When preparing the lessons, we tried to use as many of them as possible, but some remain untouched.
