Chapter 10. Configuring, Instantiating, and Customizing the Rational Unified ProcessIn this chapter we will discuss how you can configure the RUP product for your organization or for your project. Configuring the RUP consists of two steps:
We will see that you can choose one of the ready-made RUP Process Configurations with their associated Process Views, or you can use RUP Builder to rapidly produce your own configuration and views. We will also look at how you can effectively instantiate the RUP for your project by producing a development casea brief description of how your project should use your RUP Configuration. Finally, we will discuss how you can customize the RUP , that is, incorporate your own best practices to it so they can be seamlessly included into your RUP Configurations. As we explore how to configure, instantiate, and customize the RUP, we will describe in more detail the components and tools of the RUP Framework you will use. |
