The BOR is your guide to how the SAP system is set up, and it is modeled after the object-oriented programming concept. As a Java programmer, you are probably most interested in the BAPI area of the BOR. This area lists the BAPIs that are available, their import/export parameters, and their status, such as released or obsolete.
Sometimes, a BAPI is not available for the function you need (such as looking at the factory calendar). You can find remote function modules that are not set up as BAPIs through transaction SE37.
The BOR is closely linked to the Business Object Builder. The Business Object Builder maintains objects within SAP, whereas the BOR's sole function is to retrieve information about the objects. The final topic covered in this chapter is related to the Business Object Broker ActiveX control. This control allows OLE applications to reference objects within SAP without having a specific link to the BAPI.
