Organizations often have applications developed via a technology with which a particular individual is comfortable. Although this approach is good for the short term, sometimes it is better to have the application developed within the framework of SAP. Usually an organization that has SAP also has (and will continue to have) the resources to develop and support ABAP languages. As of release 4.0 of SAP, the SAP development library supports graphics, ODBC, and OLE applications. Also, the ABAP language is being enhanced to become more object-oriented. Using ABAP or a combination of ABAP and ITS is usually a long-term, cost-effective way to develop applications.
