macro

A collection of two or more commands you can play back by selecting the macro from a list, pressing a special keystroke, or clicking a button assigned to play the macro.

macro recorder

A tool used to record a series of commands and actions as you perform a particular task and then save the commands and actions so you can play them back later.

marquee

An animated dotted border that appears around a selection when the selection is cut or copied, to indicate the selection that has been cut or copied .

Maximize button

A button that appears in the upper-right corner of every nonmaximized window and enables you to quickly make the window full screen.

menu

A list of available commands or options.

menu bar

A strip near the top of a program window that contains the names of the menus on which commands and other options are listed.

merge

To combine two or more cells , thus creating one larger cell .

Minimize button

A button that appears in the upper-right corner of a window and enables you to tuck the window offscreen . When a program window is minimized, a button for the program appears in the Windows taskbar. When a workbook window is minimized, its title bar appears in the lower-left corner of Excel's program window.
