Chapter 8. Configuring the Post Office Agent

The Post Office Agent (POA) is the workhorse of the GroupWise system. It is responsible for delivering mail to users, providing them with access to their mailboxes in client/server mode, indexing mailboxes and libraries, maintaining and repairing the message store, and redirecting users to other post offices for proxy or login.

It can be complicated to correctly configure the POA. After all, there is a lot for it to keep track of, and if your POA cannot accomplish everything with the CPU cycles the server gives it, your users will notice. This chapter explores many of the settings and console commands for the POA, and offers you some best practices to help you design and configure your system correctly.
