Many organizations want to make sure that their GroupWise user IDs are unique throughout the system. With this nifty feature (shown in Figure 7.7), you can type in your proposed Mailbox ID/User ID to see whether it has already been used. You can search for a user ID in the following manner:

Tip The Email Address Lookup option will also find alias records. The search window must match exactly what a user has defined as an alias, however (for example, EVA-THE-EMAIL-QUEEN@WWWIDGETS.COM). This will be helpful to quickly search for an address you think might be coming from an alias record. Also know that when you're creating a new user, the GroupWise snap-ins will automatically ensure that the user ID is unique within the GroupWise system. If this user ID already exists, you will receive an error stating that the email address conflicts with the address of an existing user (db57). |
