LDAP Servers

LDAP authentication servers can be configured from ConsoleOne. With LDAP authentication there are some distinct advantages, including these:

• Users no longer need to remember an eDirectory and a GroupWise password.

• Even if users use GroupWise WebAccess or GroupWise Wireless, their passwords will be the same as their eDirectory passwords.

• When users change their password in GroupWise, it can also change their eDirectory passwords.

• Password expiration in GroupWise is now feasible because it's really just an eDirectory password.

The process of creating LDAP servers should be well thought out and well configured. Because of this, we've dedicated an entire chapter (Chapter 26, "Configuring GroupWise Authentication via LDAP") to configuring GroupWise authentication via LDAP.
