Summary

This chapter covered a lot of information, but it can all be distilled into three basic troubleshooting principles. When you need to troubleshoot GroupWise message flow, you need to do the following:

  • Check the queue directories for "stuck" files, backlogs, and so on.

  • Check the POA and MTA logs for error messages, or track message DRNs.

  • Check each of the connectivity pointsTCP/IP connections between POAs and MTAs, links between MTAs on different domains, and any other links that are part of the signal path for the problem messages.

Remember, one of the easiest ways to check message flow is to send a message and then check its status. Pending status means that the flow has been blocked at some point. Any other status means that message flow is open between your mailbox and the destination mailbox.
