Chapter 2. Creating a GroupWise System

This chapter traces the creation of a GroupWise system. The goal is to explore the architecture in a way that will better help you understand it. Some aspects of GroupWise architecture are easier to explain as a GroupWise system evolves; these aspects are explored in later chapters.

For the purposes of this chapter, GroupWise 7 is going to be installed at the fictional WorldWide Widgets Corporation. This fictional company is used for many examples throughout the book.
