Finding Radio Stations

Finding Radio Stations

After you have your antenna configured, you're ready to start playing the radio inside your Media Center PC. When you select Radio, you'll be greeted by the main FM Radio screen (see Figure 15.3). These are the main features:

  • The Start FM button

  • The Settings button

  • Spaces for nine station presets

If you know the "dial" location of the station you want to tune to, select the “ or + Tune button with the remote control or your mouse, and advance to the desired frequency.

Another way to navigate the FM dial with your remote is to use the Ch+ and Ch- buttons to tune up or down to the next dial position. If you are in the United States, pressing the channel button will scroll up or down in increments of 0.2 megahertz (MHz). In other countries , you'll be able to move in 0.1MHZ increments.

If you want to tune "by ear," you'll need to select the Start FM button to begin hearing audio. If you are not already tuned to a strong FM signal, you should hear static.

You can also tune in stations by pressing at least three digits on the remote control's numeric keypad, or by using the “ or + Seek buttons on the screen to automatically advance to the next strong signal. If you like what you hear, select Save to store the station in the next available preset location.
