Chapter 10. Capturing and Creating Videos with Media Center

In This Chapter

  • Connecting Media Center to your camcorder

  • Capturing video on your Media Center PC

  • Using Windows Movie Maker to edit your video

  • Saving and storing your movie

If you own and operate a camcorder, one of the most satisfying experiences you're likely to have with your Media Center PC is capturing video you created, and then being able to simply and effectively display it and share it using Media Center's My Videos interface.

While the underlying operating system ”Windows XP ”does most of the heavy lifting in this exercise, there's something wonderful about using the Media Center remote control to switch effortlessly from a movie made by Spielberg or Scorsese to one made by you. Yes, your audience may notice some subtle differences in the production values, but they'll have to admit that home movies have come a long way from the days of dimming the lights and firing up the old Super 8 projector.
