Conclusion

This chapter discussed the ways in which you can texture objects in your 3D worlds. Textures are the most important aspect of building 3D worlds because they add realism to 3D models. That said, it's critical that you understand how to use the texturing capabilities and commands.

In Chapter 9, we'll cover how to add fog to a 3D scene. Fog is used for a variety of effects, such as simulating real-world atmospheric conditions and hiding the "popping" of distant objects as they're added to a scene. As you've seen while running the code in this chapter, you don't need to use fog to hide graphics that you plan to add to a scene in the future. However, as you add more animated objects, you might find it useful to take advantage of this feature of Direct3D.
