At this point, you can compile the code for this chapter. When you run the executable, you'll notice that the window displayed (shown in Figure 4-3) looks much like the one you saw in Chapter 3. However, the window now supports Direct3D and is ready to display and animate your 3D world. Also, you can select the menu option Change Device/Mode menu item and choose a new device or mode to switch to.
If you select a full-screen window from the pop-up window, when you deselect the Use Desktop Window check box and click OK, the window will switch to a full-screen view. The window displays only the frame rate, no graphic content (frames per second) at this point. To go back to the windowed mode, you can press F2 and click in the Use Desktop Window check box.
