Build and execute the code for this chapter. When you run the code, you'll see a dialog box like the one shown in Figure 15-5.

Try selecting the type of connection you want to use (modem, network, and so forth), and then choose whether you want to join an existing session or create a new session. Once you've successfully created a new game or connected with another player's game (using a network connection, a modem, and so on), you'll see the other players if they are in your area of the 3D world. Try shooting at the other player's character. If you hit the character, it will react and you'll probably start to feel the thrill of playing head to head in a networked game.
You might want to add the ability to maintain hit points for the players in a better manner so that you can keep track of the status of each one. You can add hit points to the screen using a heads-up display (HUD) so that players can continuously see this information as they wander around the 3D world.
