Before you set off to develop your own 3D games and simulations, I want to supply you with some techniques that can help you optimize your applications. This chapter will list each of the areas that I and many of the 3D developers at Microsoft have found to be essential for producing the most efficient applications possible. The more of these suggestions you use, the faster your programs will be. I covered several of these topics earlier in this book but have reiterated them here to help make sure that you have a handy list of the key items you need to consider when writing Microsoft Direct3D Immediate Mode applications.
