Chapter Summary

 < Day Day Up >

By reading this chapter, you should have gained enough understanding to install, upgrade, and troubleshoot the Windows NT operating system. At this point, you should also have a basic understanding of the following:

  • How to create an ERD from within Windows NT.

  • How the Windows NT domain model is structured.

  • How the Windows NT authentication process works.

  • How security and access rights are implemented and supported in Windows NT.

  • How to access and use some of the many important utilities associated with Windows NT, including User Manager, Task Manager, and Event Viewer, to name a few.

  • Sharing network resources and establishing drive mapping.

  • Diagnosing basic printing problems from within Windows NT and Windows 2000.

Although it is beyond the scope of this book to cover every detail of this complex operating system, you should now have enough knowledge to answer the following review questions, which are designed to fine-tune your skills in preparation for the real CompTIA exam. As always, if you do not understand a topic, or if you require more information, the Microsoft Web site is an invaluable resource.
