Understanding Layer Groups

[ LiB ]

After you merge layers, the elements are on a single layer and cannot be manipulated individually. Instead of merging the layers , you might want to group them. You might want to group layers if you want to move items on one layer and want the items on some of the other layers to move along also. Each image can contain multiple layer groups.

Creating Layer Groups

When you create a layer group, Paint Shop Pro assigns a number or name to the group that appears on the Layer palette. Creating groups is a temporary way of merging layers.

Moving Layers to a Group

Paint Shop Pro provides several methods to move a layer into a group. One method involves using the Arrange menu. To move a layer into a group, the layer must first be located directly on top of the group layer.

NOTE

You can also use your mouse to drag a layer to any position from the Layer palette.

Ungrouping Layer Groups

If you included a layer in a group and no longer want it tied to the group, you can easily move it.
