Use caution when deleting rows or columns. Excel will delete the entire row of 256 columns or the entire column of 65,536 rows. Any data in the selected row or column is deleted as well.
When you delete a column, Excel will pull the remaining columns to the left. You can delete a single column at a time, or you can delete multiple columns, whether sequential or non-sequential columns.

When clearing the contents of a cell, the cell remains in its current location, whereas deleting a cell eliminates not only the contents of the cell but also the actual cell. Other cells move into the deleted cell position.
