Project 1 Migrating From ColdFusion 5.0 to ColdFusion MX

Project 1 Overview

In this project, you'll create a Bulletin Board application for an e-learning company called Steffilina, Inc. using ColdFusion Server 5.0. This application will enable the end users to post, view, and delete messages related to any queries within the scope of the organization. The users will be able to post their queries to a BulletinBoard database, which is a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database.

After you create this application, you'll test it on multiple platforms and Web browsers, such as Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. You'll check its connectivity using a Web server, such as Internet Information Server (IIS).

The Bulletin Board application that was developed using ColdFusion Server 5.0 needs to be migrated to ColdFusion MX. In this project, you'll learn how to migrate the settings of ColdFusion Server 5.0 to ColdFusion MX and then test the code for compatibility.

The tools used to build and test the Bulletin Board application are as follows:

• HTML

• CFML

• Code Compatibility Analyzer

The Bulletin Board application will be created using a combination of CFML, HTML, and ColdFusion Server 5.0. You'll test it by accessing it from the client computers using a Web server and ColdFusion Server 5.0. The application will also be tested for code compatibility with ColdFusion MX.
