INTRODUCTION
The PowerPoint program window contains several elements, some of which are unique to PowerPoint, such as the Outline and Slides tabs. Other elements, such as the menu bar and toolbars , are common among most programs. The various onscreen elements enable you to quickly perform tasks and execute commands.
TIP
Viewing Toolbar Buttons
By default, the Standard and Formatting toolbars share the same area in the PowerPoint window. Depending on your screen-resolution setting, you may see more or fewer buttons on the toolbars. You can view other buttons by clicking the Toolbar Options button located at the far right-end of each toolbar, and then clicking the toolbar button you want to activate.
The Slide pane displays the current slide.
The Notes pane displays notes for the current slide.
The Task pane contains links to common tasks.
The Drawing toolbar contains buttons for working with slide objects, while the Status bar displays information about the current slide and presentation.
TIP
Freeing Up Workspace
To allow yourself more room to work on a slide, you can close panes to free up onscreen workspace. For example, you can close the Task pane or the Outline and Slides tabs. See the task "Using the Task Pane" later in this part to learn more.
TIP
Your Window Might Look Different
Depending on your monitor's screen-resolution setting, the arrangement of PowerPoint program elements on your computer can differ from those shown in this book. If you share your computer with other users, various features may have been turned on or off by someone else.
