Throughout this chapter, I kept saying "just wait until you see server-side scripting" (called server-side ActionScript or SSAS). First, realize there's a lot more you can do with client-side ActionScript (CSAS). It's not that SSAS will solve all your problems, but I think there's an unwarrantedalthough natural resistance to learn SSAS. It can actually make things easier. If you're doing FCS apps, you're already having to think in a new way. I think of SSAS as a moderate investment in learning that pays off many times over. Compare this to how it's possible to build an entire Flash app laying out everything by hand in Flash's timeline. But, with a little investment in learning ActionScript, you can do much more. The point is you probably don't want to wait until you're at some advanced level before learning SSASyou can probably use it right away.
