4.10 Risk Assessment -- Medium

The threat posed by Windows-based viruses is very real, but less threatening when compared to the growth and risk attributed to worms, Trojans, script, and macro viruses. In my last 10 years of fighting malicious mobile code, less than 5 percent of my support calls have required the removal of Windows-based executables viruses. With that said, the entire Windows platform is wrought with exploit holes and each and every release of Windows adds more.
