Chapter 6. Sharpening with Channels

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that the chapter title is a bit misleading. It should probably be "Using Channels for Sharpening," which is really more what this chapter is about. So why didn't I change it? I mean, couldn't I just highlight the text up there and type in the right name? Ah, if it were only that easy. You kids these days, with your long hair and your love beads and your rock 'n' roll musicto you everything is just a mouse click away. But I remember back to a time when we didn't have mice, and the only way we could change a line of text was to use Scotch tape and a gerbil. Things were simpler then (unless of course, you ran out of tape). Back then we didn't need channels. We were content with bitmap mode, and saving our files as PICTs, but you kids today are spoiled. You don't know what it's like to go without sharpening, to have your images look out of focus and blurry. But now with all your fancy LAB sharpening, and Smart Sharpening, and multi-pass sharpening techniques, you'll probably never know the joy of waking up with your hands all sticky from Scotch tape and the smell of fresh gerbil on your keyboard.
