iPhoto: PHOTOGRAPHER'S BASIC BLACK

There's a background that's very popular with photographers for organizing their photos. It's basic black. Using black as your background gives you that "artsy photographer" look that artsy photo-graphers love. To get that look, go under the iPhoto menu and choose Preferences. Click on the Appearance icon and drag the Background slider to the far left (to Black). Then it's up to you whether you want your thumbnails to appear with a white border (choose Outline in the Border section) or without (by deselecting all Border options).
