iPhoto: FAST SORTING IN FULL SCREEN MODE

One of the first things you're probably going to want to do when you get back from a shoot is separate the "keepers" from the "losers." But doing this by looking at tiny thumbnails is sometimes pretty tough (depending on the subject matter). You could create a full-blown slide show, but do you really want to create a full-blown slide show? Nah. Instead, do this "down and dirty" slide show so you can rate your images fast, while still viewing them full screen. First, click on Last Roll to isolate only the photos you just imported. Then click the Display Slideshow button at the bottom left of the iPhoto window (it's directly below the Source list. This brings up a simple Slideshow dialog. When the options appear, turn off Repeat Slideshow and click OK. Now click the Play button (it's sortin' time!). As each image appears onscreen, simply press a number: 5 to give it a five-star rating, 3 to give it a three-star rating, etc. When you've gone through all the photos, the slide show will end. You'll have your photos rated (and thereby sorted) in no time. To see your ratings appear below your thumbnails, click back on your Last Roll in the Source list on the left of the iPhoto window, and press Command-Shift-R.
