iMovie HD: LOCKING YOUR SOUND EFFECTS INTO PLACE

If you've meticulously added sound effects to your movie, and you've synced them to events in your clips, you might think twice about inserting a clip in your movie because it would slide all the video clips that come after your insertion point down to accommodate this new clipmaking your movie longerbut leaving all your audio clips in their original spots. Now all your sound effects will be out of sync by the amount of time your imported clip takes. To get around this, before you import your clip, Shift-click on each sound effect in your audio track, then press Command-L to "lock" your audio clips to your video clips (if you're in the Timeline Viewer, you'll notice tiny yellow "pins" indicating the tracks are locked). That way, when you insert your new clip, and all the video clips move over to accommodate the new track, all the sound effects clips will move right along with them.
