iMovie HD: GETTING BACK CROPPED-OUT SCENES

When you crop a clip in iMovie, you can't access those cropped-away areas. That is, unless you know this little secretif you need to get back to the original clip you imported, perfectly intact, believe it or not you can. Just click on the cropped clip in the Timeline or Clip Viewer, then go under the Advanced menu and choose Revert Clip to Original (or choose the same option by Control-clicking on the selected clip). A dialog will appear telling you how much you'll get back, and asking you to OK the process. Click OK, and the original clip is back, in its entirety. Note: If any effects were applied to the clip, these may be lost when you do this.
