iMovie HD: GO DIRECT: CAMERA TO YOUR TIMELINE

By default, when you import clips from your video camera, those clips are placed in the Clips pane, but because iMovie HD lets you arrange the order of clips right in the Timeline (you just click-and-drag them), you can save time by skipping the Clips pane altogether and have the clips appear right on your Timeline from the start. To do that, just go under the iMovie HD menu, under Preferences, and click on the Import icon. When the Import preferences appear, where it says Place Clips In, choose Movie Timeline.
