TextEdit: POP-UP SPELL CHECKING

If you want to check the spelling in your TextEdit document, save yourself a trip to the menu bar. Simply Control-click right within your document and a contextual menu will appear where you can take control of the spell-checking process. This works particularly well if you have a word in questionjust highlight that word, Control-click on it, and the proper spelling (if it's misspelled) will appear in the menu. By the way, in Tiger the Spell Checker checks as you type, flagging misspelled words as soon as they're created. If you find this annoying, go under the TextEdit menu, under Preferences, and in the Options section, turn off Check Spelling As You Type (or to change this setting for just the document you're working on, Control-click in the document and choose the same option from the Spelling submenu).
