AVOIDING APPLE S ACCOUNT SETUP ASSISTANT

AVOIDING APPLE'S "ACCOUNT SETUP ASSISTANT"

Every time you create a new Mail account, Apple has a step-by-step wizard that walks you through the process. That's great if you're brand new to Mac OS X, but if you've been using the Mac for a while, and you pretty much know the info you need to add to set up a new Mail account, you can bypass the somewhat annoying wizard by going to Mail's Preferences (found under the Mail menu). In the Accounts section, start by holding down the Option key, then click on the plus (+) sign button on the bottom-left corner of the Preferences dialog. This instantly gives you a new account with the fields ready for you to complete, without the help of the annoying assistant.
