PUTTING THE GENIE BACK IN THE BOTTLE

Certainly the Genie Effect (which is that genie-like special effect that occurs by default when you minimize a window to the Dock) would be a nominee for the "Mac OS X Annoying Hall of Fame." Luckily, putting this genie back in its bottle is easyjust go under the Apple menu, under System Preferences, and when the dialog appears, click on the Dock icon. In the Dock preference pane, in the pop-up menu for Minimize Using, choose Scale Effect rather than Genie Effect, and that should put a cork in it (so to speak).
