UNEXPLAINED LAUNCH MYSTERIES

Annoyance Factor 6: If you know which applications your victim uses most, the fun is about to begin. Click on a document from one of those applications. For example, let's say that they use TextEdit quite a bit. Look on their drive for a TextEdit file. Click on one of those documents, and then press Command-I to bring up the file's info. In the Info dialog, click on the right-facing gray triangle to the left of Open With to reveal the Open With pane. When that pane appears, click on the pop-up menu and you'll see a list of applications that you can use to open the TextEdit file. Choose a different application than Text-Edit. Try something like Adobe Illustrator CS2 (if you've got it), or if not, you can try something as tame as Safari (which comes with OS X). Then, click on the Change All button, and finally, close the window. The next time they double-click a TextEdit file, it won't launch Text-Editinstead it will launch Illustrator (or Safari). Annoying? You bet. Try changing any Photoshop files to open in Preview or, worse yet, have them open in Graphic Converter. There's just no limit to the fun.
