If you have a keyboard that has volume controls right on the keyboard (like most PowerBooks), then you're probably used to hearing a little "confirmation" beep each time you press one of these volume controls. If those little beeps get on your nerves (who needs more things beeping at them?), then just hold the Shift key and this will silence the beeps as you press the volume keys. If you want to turn these sounds off permanently, go under the Apple menu, under System Preferences, then choose Sound (or press-and-hold Option as you press a sound key to open the Sound options). Click on the Sound Effects tab, then uncheck Play Feedback When Volume Is Changed. |
