The ubiquitous blue desktop background that is the default for Mac OS X is named "Aqua Blue.jpg" and it's found in the main Library folder (in your Home folder), in the folder called Desktop Pictures. (Note: You could always Control-click on your desktop and choose a new photo from the Desktop options, but let's imagine you have some time to yourself and want to create your own default desktop background.) Drag this image into Photoshop, erase the blue background, and create the image you want for your desktop background (or drag an existing file into this document). Then, replace the "Aqua Blue.jpg" file in your Desktop Pictures folder with this new Photoshopped file. Another Note: This one might be a good trick to pull on a co-worker because it'll take them a while to figure out how the default changed, but if you do, be sure to create a backup copy of Aqua Blue.jpg before you make changes to it. |
