You can edit the tonal values in your photos by applying filters to them at the printing stage. To do this, just open a photo in Preview (or any Cocoa app like TextEdit), and choose Print from the File menu. In the Print dialog, click on the pop-up menu for Quartz Filter and a list of tonal filters will appear, which you can apply by choosing them from the list. But how do you know how these filters will really look when applied to your photo? Just check out the large preview window on the left. ©SCOTT KELBY |
