AN EASIER WAY TO RENAME ITEMS IN YOUR SIDEBAR

The sidebar was introduced back in Mac OS X Panther, and it's great for having one-click access to your most-used files, folders, and applications. But there is one thing that was kind of annoyingonce something was in the sidebar, you couldn't rename ityou had to go back to the original file, rename that file, and then the new name would be reflected in the sidebar. Seems like an awful lot of work for just a simple rename. But luckily that's changed in Tiger, because now you can just Control-click on any item in the sidebar and a contextual menu will appear that lets you do everything from renaming the sidebar item to running an automation on it. Note: Don't rename your Home folder (which likely shows your user name), which can wreak havoc on your Mac.
