GET TO SOUND OR DISPLAY PREFERENCES FAST!Since Apple knows you'll be going to these two fairly often, they gave them shortcuts. Press Option-Mute (it's the top-left key above the numeric keypad) and the System Preferences will launch, taking you straight to the Sound preferences. Press Option-F14 (the Brightness key on your keyboard) and the Display preferences will pop up instead. It doesn't get much faster than that!
