PICKING COLORS? USE THE BUILT-IN COLOR WHEEL

If you need some help in picking complementary colors for your Photoshop artwork, you can request a different Color Picker (one that looks more like a traditional color wheel), rather than using Photoshop's standard Color Picker (which isn't much help at all). This is done in the Photoshop menu (in Mac OS X), under General Preferences (in Windows, the Preferences can be found under the Edit menu). At the top of the General Prefs dialog, you'll see a pop-up menu for Color Picker. By default, it's set to Adobe. If you're using Windows, you can switch it to the standard Windows Color Picker. If you're on a Macintosh, you can choose to use Apple's Color Picker (actually, there's a host of different Color Pickers on the Mac, including CMYK, RGB, Crayon, and HSV). Apple's HSV Picker gives you a visual color wheel that makes picking complementary colors a breeze.
