It is rare these days to find an HP-UX system not attached to a local area network. As well as reviewing basic networking terminology and techniques, we explore the arcane world of IPv6, ndd, auto-negotiation , dynamic routing, DHCP and DNS coexistence, CIFS/9000, LDAP, sendmail, and a brief discussion of the increased use of Web servers as an interface to managing HP-UX servers. We conclude with a discussion on other network technologies that can affect the design and implementation of the infrastructure that makes up our networks.
