Summary


The design and functionality of the game changed during the development process, and mistakes were definitely made, but this is a normal part of the process.

Storyboarding ahead of time made it possible for the artist and the programmer to work in tandem. Although the island became two islands and the controls changed completely, it would have been impossible for the artwork and programming to have been in development simultaneously if we hadn't at least taken a stab at what the final product would look like.

It's hard when you're working on a project not to think of all the things you could do ” if only there were more time in a day! Some of the ideas that could have been implemented in an ideal world include these:

  • Although the view from the top is different from most ballistic games , it would be nice to also see the view from the side or from inside the tank. It would be nearly impossible to display all three views simultaneously, but a button in the corner could toggle among the three views.

  • With a little research, the artist could draw controls that look like those in a real tank.

  • Using XML, two players anywhere on the planet could play against each other without having to use the same computer.
