Chapter 4. Post-migration Changes
It is seen that Visual Basic .NET is far different from Visual Basic 6.0. The upgrade wizard provided by Visual Studio .NET converts the Visual Basic 6.0 forms and syntax into the new Windows Forms. However, most of the functionality of Visual Basic 6.0 is not supported in Visual Basic .NET, or its behavior has changed too much for the upgrade tool to automate the process of upgrading these applications.
This chapter has given workarounds for most of the functionality commonly encountered in Visual Basic 6.0 applications. The major functionalities covered in this chapter are graphics, database handling, DDE, handling Win32 API calls, COM+ services, OLE, and Help functionality.
