This chapter has given you the practical implementation of the theory we have learned so far. Here we have developed PMS in Visual C++ 6.0 and migrated it partially to .NET. This chapter gives you the complete flow of the system, which is divided into presentation, business, and data access layers .

The chapter gives a developmental overview of the system in Visual C++ 6.0. The COM components , which form the data access layer, have been discussed with detailed explanations of all the functions involved. The presentation layer has been explained with the aid of screen shots of the various views and dialogs involved in the user interface. The migration philosophy has been explained to show the COM interoperability. The .NET Web services created are explained in detail, emphasizing the critical technical aspects to consume these in the Visual C++ 6.0 environment.
