EVOLUTION OF AN INDUSTRY

Citrix is an amazing success story, growing from a tiny company in a rented Fort Lauderdale office to one of the largest software companies in the world, with 2004 sales of $741 million. Citrix launched what became the access infrastructure industry in the late 1980s with the introduction of a multiuser OS/2 product called WinView. 100 percent of the Fortune 1000 companies and 99 percent of the Fortune Global 500, as well as hundreds of thousands of small businesses now use the Citrix Access Platform to improve productivity and reduce costs. As companies increasingly view access strategically rather than tactically, Citrix becomes increasingly positioned as the platform to optimize the environment.

Today, the access infrastructure industry is enormous and includes scores of Windows terminal choices, bandwidth management devices, wireless connectivity options, and thousands of software partners , resellers , and consultants . Microsoft has increasingly, over the years, elevated the status of Terminal Server from a seldom-contemplated stepchild to a major integrated product feature of Windows Server. Microsoft is quick to recognize the contributions that Citrix makes in expanding awareness of Terminal Server, and has named Citrix their ISV Partner of the Year two of the last three years .

Microsoft's commitment to continue the rapid feature enhancement, usability, and partner community of Terminal Services is further validating it as a mainstream technology. Citrix extends the Terminal Server platform by adding versatility, usability, scalability and manageability along with enhanced security. This access platform enables organizations to more effectively realize managed cost, enhanced business continuity, and compliance with increasing government regulations. By all accounts, the rising tidal wave of access infrastructure will continue to gain momentum.
