Summary

This chapter explored the complexities of business process automation and how the .NET Framework leverages Microsoft's BizTalk Server as a flexible and scalable solution. This chapter started with an introduction to business process automation and described how enterprise applications benefit from it. Then, this chapter described BizTalk Server and its components and how it addresses the need for scalable and reliable business process automation. Then, this chapter defined a business process for the IssueTracker enterprise application and leveraged BizTalk Server to implement process automation services that automatically route information throughout the enterprise based on specific business rules.

The next chapter implements the application's presentation layer with the use of Web forms, reflection, and data binding. The presentation layer finally adds the user interface to all of the services covered so far and relies upon templates and user controls to reduce errors and encourage reusability.
