2.4 SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER READING

For a reader needing a more thorough review of pointers and arrays in C, the book by King [45] is highly recommended. In flavor and style, the C related discussion in this chapter follows closely the explanations provided by King.

The basic reference for C++ is the book by the creator of the language, Stroustrup [54]. The C++ operators and functions used in this chapter are presented in detail in Chapters 6 and 10 of this book. The reader is also referred to [54, pp. 605-656] and [50, pp. 1063-1121] for this material. For a very readable and helpful source of information related to the C++ Standard Library, the reader is referred to the book by Josuttis [42]. Helpful online sources for the same are Brokken's C++ Annotations [10], Rogue Wave Standard C++ Library User Guide and Tutorial [38], and the Standard C++ Library Class Reference [37].

The basic references for Java are the books coauthored by the creator of the language, Gosling [2, 23], and the voluminous online information at the java.sun.com site [24, 33]. The specific Java language constructs used in this chapter are presented further in Chapters 6 and 10 of this book. The reader is also referred to [26, pp. 1-71].
