On Avid Xpress Pro, it is possible to make separate marks for your video and audio. Although you have yet to customize any keys, it's still helpful to review these icons (see Figure 3.13).
These keys place separate marks for audio and video tracks. In the following example, the audio IN points come much later than the video IN points (see Figure 3.14). When you perform this edit, the video will be edited first and then the audio. This is called a split-edit and is a very effective way of editing. It's helpful when you want to perform an edit whereby the viewer first sees the image and then later hears the audio that is associated with the edit.
