Whereas Avid Xpress Pro allows you to work on 24 tracks of video, Boris FX allows you to use 64,000 tracks. (If you ever create a composite with 64,000 tracks, make sure you send me a copy of the finished effect!)
If you want to work with layers in Boris FX, you can use the other Boris FX effects from the Effect Palette. The four options are Boris Red 1 Input, Boris Red 2 Input, Boris Red 4 Input, and Boris Red 6 Input (see Figure A.7).
These input options refer to how many tracks you want to move into the Boris FX interface. For example, if you're compositing two tracks of video, place the Boris Red 2 Input on the top video track inside the Avid Xpress Pro Timeline (see Figure A.8).
When you click on the Other Options button in the Effect Editor, the two tracks will appear in the Boris Effects Timeline, which you can then apply filters and effects to. One of Boris Effects' greatest features is its cube effect, which I applied to video track 1 in Figure A.9.
Once you've created the effect you want, simply click on the Apply button at the bottom of the Timeline and render the effect the same way you render any effect.
NOTE
NOTE
All Boris FX work has to be rendered even if you have Avid Mojo.
