Tracking Your Tasks

You have a bunch of deadlines for getting your various projects completed, but you know how difficult it can be to remember the exact date for each one, especially if your deadlines are close together. Windows Vista can track those tasks so that you can quickly check to determine what needs to be done by what date. Then, once you've met your deadline, you can revel in the great satisfaction of checking off a completed task!

Track a Task

If Windows Calendar isn't already running, start it from the Start menu.

Select the calendar you want if you have more than one, and, if it's hosted on line, enter the Web-site address for the calendar.

Click New Task, and type a label for the new task.

Set the priority ranking of the task.

Set the start and finish dates for the task.

Click here, and then specify when you want to be reminded about the task.

Type any notes about the task.

When you've completed the task, select its check box. Smile!

Tip

To change the length of time for which a completed task is displayed after you've completed it, the default time for a reminder to appear, or the color of overdue tasks, choose Options from the File menu.
